About Diana McPherson
I vividly remember using my parents’ Kodak instamatic on my 5th grade class hiking field trip to take photos of my friends and the expansive view of Lake Tahoe from the surrounding mountains. I’ve been hooked on photography ever since. I grew up in southern and northern California. My journey has taken me to northern New Mexico and then to the Tri-Cities in 2015. While the rivers and shrub-steppe offer endless wildlife and nature photography opportunities, I frequently travel to a variety of locations for other unique wildlife viewing.
The Process
My first proper photography class was in college. I’ve continued to self-teach techniques for wildlife and nature while pushing myself outside my comfort zone by trying different types of photography such as concert and street. My background as a wildlife biologist and understanding wildlife behaviour is an essential part of my process. No matter my subject, my approach to photography is always ethically focused.
